The Museum of Selfies project was started by Danish art director Olivia Muus when she recently visited the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen.
“I took a picture for fun and liked how this simple thing could change their character and give their facial expression a whole new meaning. It’s interesting how we get a whole new perception of people, as soon as there is a smartphone in front of their face. It seems that the smartphone is the mirror of our time.”
Amused with the images, Olivia’s plan is to continue taking more photos on her travels to other museums. She also hopes that more people with join in the fun, and has started a tumblr so that anyone, anywhere can submit their own museum selfies to the page. Or, you can use the hashtag #museumofselfies on Instagram.
This very well may be our favorite project of the moment. Say cheese!
