The tragic back to back deaths of actress and author Carrie Fisher (60) on Tuesday and her mother, Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds (84), yesterday have put greater importance on the upcoming HBO Documentary Bright Lights, which was shot with the close pair about a year ago. It is said to be a candid “chronicle of the extraordinary bond that mother and daughter forged over six decades in the unrelenting glare of showbiz’s spotlight.”

Called “a love story” by HBO Documentary Films president Sheila Nevins, Bright Lights: Starring Debbie Reynolds & Carrie Fisher screened in Cannes earlier this year and at the New York Film Festival in October.

The film will debut on HBO some time in 2017, though a specific date has not been set as executives are considering “the appropriate timing given the tragic developments.”
