This feel-good video, which features a number of Girl Scouts from across the country talking about their respective plans for building a better world, showcases the positive impact girls can have on their communities and the world when they take action and lead. It accompanies news just announced this week that the first-ever Girl Scout float is set to debut in the 90th Anniversary Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® this November. The float’s theme… “building a better world”.

According to Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), the girls on the float will be “building a better world” by “climbing and belaying on giant 3-D puzzle pieces that form a globe, using levers to connect the pieces.” The float design will also include two dozen “embroidered” Girl Scout badges “rendered in beautiful detail and representing everything from STEM and the outdoors to financial literacy and entrepreneurship.”

Of the importance of having Girl Scouts and its mission “to build girls of courage, confidence, and character” on this national stage, which garners an audience of more than 50 million, Andrea Bastiani Archibald, PhD, chief girl expert at GSUSA said, “Our intention is that, with our appearance in the parade, all girls will be inspired to realize their potential, encouraged to embrace challenges, and motivated to make a positive change in the world—and join us to do so!”
