Thanksgiving… the 48 hour countdown is officially on. So if you’re in charge of the feast or contributing to one, and are still in need of some culinary inspiration, we thought we’d give you a WYSKy hand by sharing this recap of a special series we ran in 2011. Every day of Thanksgiving week that year – our launch year – we celebrated a few of our favorite, pioneering chefs and included some of their mouthwatering recipes – modern twists on classic holiday dishes from Stephanie Izard, Lidia Bastianich, Karen DeMasco and Alice Waters.

Happy cooking and feasting!

They’re Gonna Want Seconds Green Beans: Stephanie Izard, owner and executive chef of Chicago’s Girl & The Goat and Little Goat Diner, and the first woman to win Bravo’s Top Chef. Check out her modern twist on classic green bean casserole.

Sophisticated Spuds: Lidia Bastianich, culinary industry giant whose successful empire includes restaurants, cookbooks, TV shows, product lines, and more. Check out her recipe for Spicchi di Patate Arroste or Roasted Potato Wedges.

Sweet Ending: James Beard Award Winner, Pastry Chef Karen DeMasco, has been sweetening up New York for years, one pastry at a time. Check out her recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake.

Leftover Love: Alice Waters, the pioneer of California Cuisine. Her Turkey Soup With Kale is a must try for the day after Thanksgiving.

I have made recipes from all of these ladies! The green beans may be my new sidedish for the holiday. Delish!!

I am going to make Lidia’s Roasted Potatoes Wedges, but I will substitute sweet potatoes for the white potatoes. Sweet potatoes and rosemary are deliciousl together, so should be fantastic!! May just cut down on the garlic a little.
