President Obama recently sat down with top YouTube creators Destin Sandlin, Ingrid Nilsen and Adande Thorne to answer questions regarding health care, minimum wage, marriage equality, gun control, education, and a slew of other topics concerning the American people.

In his interview with Ingrid Nilsen, the President confessed that he had no idea 40 U.S. states impose a tax on feminine hygiene products. His response was much like our own…

“I have no idea why states would tax these as luxury items, I suspect it’s because men were making the laws when those taxes were passed.”

Women have been mobilizing to get the tampon tax removed, back in December we shared a petition to U.S. State Legislators to stop taxing our periods, which has been gaining traction. In fact, earlier this month, lawmakers in California introduced a bill that would give feminine hygiene products tax exempt status. But there’s still more work to be done.
