“Jane Austen’s Fight Club” Faux Movie Trailer [VIDEO]

Move over Brad Pitt (a.k.a. Tyler Durden) and Edward Norton (a.k.a. The Narrator), there’s a new “Fight Club” in town and it’s not set in a dingy bar basement and there are no men involved. Rather, picture a bunch of 19th century “ladies” – the landed gentry sort – throwing down in a lovely English garden while decked out in the latest finery of the day.

This is the wacky backdrop of the faux movie trailer for “Jane Austen’s Fight Club,” a creation of Austen superfans Emily Janice Card (writer/director) and Keith Paugh (director). They show us what it would look like when the women of Jane Austen’s novels “were no longer ‘good society'”.

We pretty sure Jane would LOVE this brand of raw social commentary. Enjoy!

I would like to think that somewhere deep down inside all of those genteel 19th century ladies there was a girl who was always ready for a good fight. They may have seemed refined and cultured, but I’ll bet they were very bored because they couldn’t express themselves as they really wanted to. I think the clip is hilarious!! Jane Austen must be turning over in her grave!
