National Girlfriends Day is an annual holiday commemorated every year on August 1st. While its origins are “unknown”, we need no convincing to embrace a holiday that celebrates the friendships between women. It’s a day that reminds us to cherish all the women in our lives – girlfriends, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, etc. – who make our lives better.
Rather than be cliché and tell you to “head to the spa”, “gossip over coffee” or “go shopping” as some sites suggest women do to celebrate NGD, we’re offering an idea that is much simpler and far more meaningful… just take a moment to tell your girlfriends how much they mean to you today.
Who knew that today was such a special day? I’m marking my calendar so that each year on Aug. 1st I remember to thank my girlfriends for being my girlfriends.
