First Female-led Marvel Film Announced (Yay)… In Theaters Almost 4 Years From Now (Sigh)

The Good News: Carol Danvers has set a flight path straight into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The super heroine will make her debut in Marvel’s “Captain Marvel,” headlining the first female-led film from Marvel Studios.

The Bad News: This giant, superheroic leap for womankind is almost 4 years away, as the movie-mold, glass-ceiling breaking blockbuster won’t hit theaters until July 6, 2018.

That’s all we got because that’s all Marvel’s giving right now… so take from it what you will.

But in the meantime, we can still cheer for our favorite Captain Marvel… Miss Stella Grace of Heroic Girls!

  • She will get her own movie in 2018 — but that does not necessarily mean she will debut in that movie. Black Panther is also getting his own movie, but he will show up in Captain America 3 first.

Captain Marvel gets her powers from alien Kree in the comics. Ronan the Accuser of the Kree was the bad guy in this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Captain Marvel is also a long-time Avenger, and there are multiple Avengers movies that were announced.

Nothing is official, but I would suspect that we will see Captain Marvel or her alter ego Carol Danvers in the theater at some point before her own movie comes out.
