Finding Inspiration On A Street Corner

We never know when, where or how we are going to meet women who inspire us. As Fleet Week New York, the annual celebration of the military sea services held every year since 1984, kicked off last week bringing more than 6,000 service men and women from the U.S. and coalition nations to New York Harbor on a flotilla of 17 tall ships and 10 warships from across the world, we saw these two women on a crowded street in lower Manhattan and were compelled to strike up a conversation. The U.S. Marine Officer (left) and U.S. Army Officer (right), who shared that they work together, are the quintessential Women You Should Know… every day women who are doing something extraordinary; in their case, defending our nation and our freedoms. It doesn’t get more extraordinary than that!

This Memorial Day, Women You Should Know would like to thank these two Officers in addition to all of the other women and men who selflessly and bravely serve and have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard. To those women and men who made the greatest sacrifice serving our country, may your memories be shining examples of the very best that America is.
