“You need to be gagged.” “A bit of rape never harmed anyone.” “I think someone needs a vibrator.”

These are just a few of the abusive messages writers and editors from The Guardian have received in response to stories they’ve posted.

While digital media has provided a place to raise our collective feminist voices, there’s a price to be paid when we use them. And although online harassment isn’t only directed at women, when it comes to female writers, things are taken to an extreme and personal level, as illustrated in the video.

Thank you Megan Carpentier, Jessica Valenti, Rebecca Carroll, Sady Doyle and Mary Hamilton for standing up to the haters and doing the important work that you do in spite of being besieged by this vitriol.
