Breastfeeding in public continues to be a very divisive topic. Even in 2014, women are continually ostracized from businesses and restaurants for doing what comes naturally.

So, when WYSK Timna Understein shared this photo with us, we were beyond excited to finally see a business invite and warmly welcome breastfeeding moms in.

The photo comes from Oasis In Carr Mill Mall a lovely coffee, tea and wine lounge in Carrboro, North Carolina. WYSK connected with proprietor Robert Roskind to hear what inspired the “policy”.

“My daughter breastfed until she was 4. She is now 27 – healthy, happy, centered. The years of breastfeeding started her on that path. I love supporting breastfeeding moms and children any way I can.”

A pot of tea = $3.50

Providing a welcoming environment where breastfeeding mothers are able to sit anywhere and enjoy a free pot of tea while breastfeeding = Priceless

Have you seen “breastfeeding welcome” signs in any local stores, restaurants or malls in your area? If so, let us know. Send pics to Women You Should Know.
