In February 2012, Marlana VanHoose sang our National Anthem to kick-off a women’s basketball game at the University of Kentucky. Within seconds of opening her mouth, the then 16 year old, who was born blind and diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a toddler, stunned the crowd of 7,429 who were there to witness her chill inducing and tear evoking performance. Since, this video has had several viral lives and we’re giving it one more.

In WYSK’s opinion, Marlana delivered one of THE MOST MOVING renditions of “The Star-Spangled Banner” we have ever heard. That’s why we think EVERYONE should know this incredibly gifted young woman.

Hearing Marlana sing the National Anthem brought chills to me. She is so good she should be giving lessons to the very highly paid, well known celebrities who sing this beautiful song at high profile public events, but who almost always don’t seem to know the words and make a mockery of it. You are a true star Marlana.
